This work on paper by Paul Crotto is part of a series of silkscreens done between 1969 - 1973 at the Atelier Lacourere, the same studio used by Picasso and Matisse.
Across this series his subject matter ranged from portraits and interior scenes to still life compositions and vibrant exteriors, synthesising his influence from Picasso, Matisse, and post-impressionism in a harmony of colour and form. Created using the silkscreen technique, a process originating in China over 1000 years ago where paint or ink is forced through stencils onto the paper building up layers of colour, each copy of the series is handmade by Paul meaning that even under the same edition number no two prints are the same.
